What is a CSB?

CSB= Community Supported Bread!  We have taken the now popular Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, dropped the "A" and added the "B".  In their book Sharing the Harvest: A Citizen's Guide to CSA, Elizabeth Henderson and Robyn Van En describe Community Supported Agriculture as follows;

     "CSA is a connection between a nearby farmer and the people who eat the food that the farmer produces..."food producers+food consumers+annual commitment=CSA and untold possibilities".  The essence of the relationship is the mutual commitment: The farm feeds the people; people support the farm and share both the risk and the bounty...Growing and eating food somewhere nearby is basic to human existence...For the masses of people in the united states today, this connection has been broken.  Most people do not know where or how their food is grown.  They cannot touch the soil or talk to the farmer who tends it...CSA offers one of the most hopeful alternatives to this downward spiral."

We are providing a bread share program over a five month period starting on the first week of December 2009.  By choosing one of our share options (listed below) you will be entitled to your chosen amount of bread each week at a reduced "members only" price.  You are not locked in to one bread product for the whole 5 months.  Switch it up at will! Get a rosemary and garlic loaf one week, and bagels the next.  On top of that, every member has the option to add on to their order each week, choosing from our weekly updated order menu.  There are several breads that we will always make (Jalapeno Cheddar etc.), but we will strive to offer variations and new products as much as possible.

MainStreet BookEnds community bookstore in Warner, NH has graciously allowed us to set up a small indoor market once a week for our members.  Here you will be able to pick up your bread share and any other products you may have ordered, as well as browse the many other products we will be providing.  Local farmers will bring fresh chicken and duck eggs, as well as jams, jellies, salsas, hand-made soaps and much more.

Can't make our weekly pick-up market?  No problem.  We are more than happy to deliver your share to the location most convenient for you for an extra $15.00 a month (If you live more than 25 miles from Warner, NH we may have to work something else out).

Being a part of this unique communal experience is easy.  Simply choose one of the CSB share options below and we will send you a confirmation email as soon as we receive your request.  Then place your order by the date specified at the "Place Your Order" page here on this site.
